NFL QB Grip Stories

Every quarterback has a unique grip and a story behind it. QB Grip documents those details through photos, videos, and Alex Neist’s visual analysis.

About Alex Neist and QB Grip

I’m Alex Neist, the creator of QB Grip. I study images and videos of quarterbacks to document how they hold the football. These profiles bring together grip photos, video examples, and my observations about finger placement on the laces.

How I document quarterback grips

I look at the hand’s position on the football, especially where the ring finger and pinky sit in relation to the laces and how many fingers extend over them. When I make a narrated breakdown, the written profile can summarize that explanation alongside the video. Clips without narration serve as visual references.

What do the grip numbers mean?

My Bo Nix breakdown gives an example: 252 describes his ring finger on the second lace, pinky around the fifth lace, and two fingers over the laces. The profile uses the player-specific label 252-BN. The photos and explanation provide context for the code.

A profile records what I observe in the material being reviewed. Images can show different angles or moments, and a quarterback’s grip can change over time. When new material changes the analysis, the existing profile can be updated.
